Phil G. Giavasis was elected Stark County Clerk of Courts in November of 1992, and he is currently serving his third term.

A native and life long resident of Stark County, Giavasis is an alumnus of CANTON MCKINLEY SR. HIGH SCHOOL and a graduate of EDINBORO UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA. Married in 1999 to ANGELA (MARTIN). He is a member of HOLY TRINITY GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH in Canton, Ohio. He is the son of Phil G. Giavasis, retired from the Plain Local School System, and Darlene Cross of North Canton.

He is the founding Director of Community Service Program for the Canton Municipal Court and served as Bailiff for both Judge Harry E. Klide and Judge Mary Falvey. Since taking office in 1993 Phil Giavasis has concentrated on the automation of the Stark County Clerk of Courts office and expanding it to include all county criminal justice agencies, which led to the creation of the STARK COUNTY JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM.

Phil Giavasis has also consolidated the services of the Automobile Title Division of the Clerk of Courts office with that of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles Deputy Registrars. To make it possible for the citizens of Stark County to transfer an auto title and obtain license plates at the same location. He has also extended the hours of the title offices to include Saturday mornings.
