John D. Ferrero is the Stark County Prosecuting Attorney. He is charged with the duty of inquiring into the commission of crimes within Stark County. By state statute he is also the legal adviser to various county boards including the board of county commissioners, board of elections, township boards, county elected officials, and many other offices and boards.
John received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Dayton and his Juris Doctor Degree from Ohio Northern University College of Law. A Stark County native, he graduated from Central Catholic High School.
Having practiced law in the private sector for twenty-one (21) years prior to becoming county prosecutor, he also served as prosecuting attorney in the Massillon Municipal Court system and was elected to four (4) terms as the Massillon City Law Director. He served as special counsel under the Ohio Attorney General where he gained insight into the operation of state government.
He presently serves as Secretary to the Stark County Bar Association, Member of the Board of the Community Health Foundation, Treasurer of the Stark County Community Correction Planning Board and serves on numerous other county and state boards and organizations.
He is admitted to practice in all Ohio courts, the U.S. District Court, Northern Division, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 6th Circuit. Accomplishments:
